Sow in modules from February to April at 1–2 cm, or directly outdoors in April–May (soil ≥ 10 °C). Transplant or thin at 6–8 leaves at 50 × 60 cm. Grow in rich, cool, well-drained soil in full sun with regular watering. Harvest pointy types in June–July, ‘Wädenswil’ from September–November, and red varieties (‘Amarant’, ‘Granat’) from October–December for long-term storage.
