Tomatofifou: the tomato-lover’s Aladdin’s cave

What is it?
Tomatofifou.com is an online encyclopaedia devoted to the nightshade family—above all tomatoes—created by French collector François Gaborit.

3,000 + tomato varieties are described, photographed and classified by colour, shape, earliness, culinary use, and so on—from micro-dwarf cherries to giant beefsteaks.
About 1,300 varieties are offered for sale as open-pollinated seed (organically grown or untreated); the remainder are kept for research and evaluation.

A partnership with Cycle en Terre

Since 2023 the seed collection has been hosted and distributed by the Belgian co-operative Cycle en Terre, which handles long-term conservation and shipping.

Tomatofifou seeds – practical info

Key point	What you need to know
Organic label	No variety is certified yet—the paperwork was never started. ➡️ Commitment: future harvests will be certified; plants are already grown without chemicals and with respect for biodiversity.
Target users	Small packets for home gardeners, collectors, tomato geeks. Not intended for large-scale commercial production.
Phytosanitary passport	Not supplied automatically (unnecessary for amateur use). ➡️ An official application is under way; a passport can be issued on request.
Seed quality & germination	1,300 + varieties kept frozen to ensure viability. Annual germ tests on the entire range are impossible—tell us if a batch fails, we’ll replace it.
Variety renewal	Cycle en Terre regrows any variety that runs out of stock and continues François’s discovery work.
