More info
Sow Swiss chard April to mid-July (up to three weeks earlier under cover) 2 cm (¾ in) deep in rows 40 cm (16 in) apart; thin seedlings to 30 cm (12 in). In rich, moist but free-draining soil, plants grow fast—expect the first pick about 70 days after germination. Cut leaves and stems 3 cm (1 in) above ground for continuous regrowth through the season; moderately sized plants can overwinter and sprout again in spring.
