More info
Sow eggplant seeds in March at 23–25 °C / 73–77 °F using a heat mat or propagator; germination takes 8–10 days. After the first true leaves appear, gradually lower to about 15 °C / 59 °F and move seedlings into 8 cm / 3 in pots. From mid-May, once soil exceeds 18 °C / 64 °F, set plants 50 × 50 cm / 20 × 20 in apart in a greenhouse or, in very warm sheltered gardens, outdoors in full sun. Rich, free-draining soil and consistent watering will yield glossy fruits 65–80 days after planting.
